I was a late starter to CBD oil in comparison to some people. I discovered it in my early 40s and after researching it, I initially got spooked and moved on. Reading the word cannabis caught my attention sharpish and in a state of confusion, I assumed it just couldn’t be a good thing. Of course, I was very, very wrong!
Like myself back then, most newcomers to CBD don’t realise that the plant grown for CBD products (in our case cannabis Sativa L.) is not the same strain as the plant used for leisure. Naturally occurring cannabinoid levels differ between the plants, and unlike its cousin, cannabis Sativa L. produces safe, effective, perfectly legal CBD oil that will not have any kind of extreme or negative psychoactive effect. Back then, there didn’t seem to be much education available on the websites I found, or reassurance that they were safe and top quality – so I got spooked and moved on in my search for natural health support.
After struggling through the symptoms of chronic illness and learning to pace myself I found I was really living more of an “existence”. I certainly was not even close to the basics of living a full or enjoyable life! I could only manage to do the bare essentials and then I would collapse exhausted, unable to take care of myself or my family. I carried on like this for years and it was tough.
Throughout this time, I came across many crazy claims on the internet about CBD oil that made me very suspicious, but also made me curious. This drove me to keep looking and, on the occasions, I could manage to focus myself but do nothing more than sit, I would spend some time researching more about this intriguing little bottle of curiosity. After some time, I finally found what seemed to be a genuine and safe product. So, I bought a bottle and then promptly placed it in my kitchen cupboard because I still didn’t feel brave enough to try anything that had cannabis in it!
In 2017 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. With 12 months of treatment on top of my chronic illness symptoms, life became even harder for my family and me. Just as I was completing my 12 months of chemo, surgery, and radiotherapy, we had a family bereavement and I found myself having to cope at home, with three children, without my husband as he was really needed elsewhere. It was a very overwhelming time for the entire family, and I did not know how I was going to get through it.
Tough times do come and go, and I’ve had my fair share. In the tough times, I’ve learned we should take all the help we can get. There is no room for pride when you are in a desperate situation, especially when you have little ones to think about. Life can be complicated, and fear can stop us from moving forward which was becoming my experience with CBD oil. I had it there but hadn’t yet “chanced it” to see if it could make a difference to my health and wellness in any way. Desperation told me that now was the time…. and that’s when I took it for the first time.
Now I would never want to claim or infer anything medicinal about CBD. No seller should. CBD is classed as a food supplement and it’s important to remember this.
So why do I take CBD oil? For me personally, since taking CBD oil my health and wellness have improved which has enabled me to put the hard work in and get back to living life. Annoyingly inconvenient, complicated life, with all of its demands, twists and turns. My life is far from being a storybook but these days I’m able to contribute, to do my part, and that is and always has been important to me.
I was so inspired by CBD oil that I chose to set up hapihemp with Lorraine. We both believe passionately in our products and wanted to bring reassurance and education to all who are missing out on this wonderful little plant extraction, just like I once did. We have built this business together, two working mums having to put the hours in, with families to care for and support. hapihemp is built on a foundation of passion, honesty, and hard work. Like most great things are. We offer the choice of THC Free CBD oils and Full Spectrum Cold pressed CBD oils in different strengths and flavours to ensure an oil to suit everyone’s needs.
