National Body Care Day

National Body Care Day

Our bodies don’t get enough recognition for the true wonder that they are. In fact, we can sometimes do the opposite and often we are actually better at finding fault with the way our bodies look. So today we want to take the time to celebrate them.

Our bodies protect us and keep us safe from harm, they enable us to move around and interact with the world and the people in it. They keep us warm or cool us down, process food to give us energy and restore ourselves. While we sleep our bodies are still working hard to replenish and rebuild every last cell and they create new life! Our bodies come in diverse shapes, sizes and colours and are very unique every last one. What an amazing body we truly have!

Our skin is the largest organ of the body. Its hair, nails, sweat & oil glands make up the integumentary system, and its main function is protection. The skin acts as a barrier to protect the body from external factors such as bacteria, chemicals, light and temperature.

Varying all over your body, your skin takes on a different thickness, colour and texture – for example, your head contains more hair follicles than anywhere else, but the soles of your feet have none. Whereas the skin on the palms of your hands is much thicker than the skin in other areas of your body.

Our skin is a sensory organ that goes through a lot every day and varies from person to person. It can be sensitive, dry, oily or a combination and will respond to your environment. Whatever your skin type there is a product made especially for you and let’s not forget our lips! Like the rest of our body, they need extra love and care, moisture in the cooler months and protection in the hotter weather.

Our recommendation for hapi skin is to keep it in top form, firstly by cleaning it well every day. We don’t recommend harsh shower gels and soaps – remember to be as kind as you can. Once you are showered and dry, our body oil is all you will need. Suitable for use all over your body, your skin will drink it in, and the amazing all-natural ingredients will help keep your skin in its best condition.

If you want to take care of your mind as well as your body, we suggest a few candles with a warm relaxing bath and a squeeze of our body oil splashed in. Not only will the soothing warm smells comfort you as you relax, but the extracts will also get to work and help your body find your zen.

Or after your bath, perhaps instead of applying our body oil yourself, you can ask your partner to massage the oil for you! A massage along with our body oil will leave you feeling warm, and relaxed and bring relief all over.

With such amazing ingredients all in one bottle, what have you got to lose? Your skin will thank you.

Moisturize

Moisturizer both hydrates skin and locks in all the other layers of product you’ve applied. Look for a lightweight lotion for the morning, ideally with SPF 30 or higher. In the evening, you can use a thicker night cream. Those with dry skin may want to use a cream morning and night.

Apply Retinoid

Retinoids (vitamin A derivatives including retinol) can reduce dark spots, breakouts, and fine lines by increasing skin-cell turnover, but they can also be irritating, especially for sensitive skin. If you use retinoids, know that they break down in the sun, so they should only be used at night. They also make your skin extra sensitive to the sun, so sunscreen is a must.

Apply Face Cream/Oil

If you use a face cream or oil, make sure to apply it after your other skin-care products since nothing else will be able to penetrate the oil.

Apply Sunscreen

It may be the last step, but nearly any dermatologist will tell you that sun protection is the most important part of any skin-care regimen. Protecting your skin from UV rays can prevent skin cancer and signs of ageing. If your moisturizer doesn’t contain SPF, you still need to wear sunscreen. For chemical sunscreens, wait 20 minutes before going outside for the sunscreen to be effective. Look for broad-spectrum SPF, meaning your sunscreen protects from UVA and UVB radiation.
