5 Questions about THC in CBD

THC vs CBD compounds

What is THC?

THC is a compound from the Cannabis Savita plant, just like CBD. These two are the most common compounds in cannabis products. However, unlike CBD, THC is the psychoactive compound found in the plant,  only effective at high levels. This means that THC is the compound in cannabis that will get you high. Both CBD and THC react with the same part of your body, the endocannabinoid system, but they react to it in very different ways.

The highest amount of THC in CBD Oil

The highest amount of THC that can be in CBD oil, by legal requirement, is 0.2%. This means that our full-spectrum CBD oil contains a maximum of 0.2% THC. Don’t worry though, the THC is at such a low concentration that it is impossible to get high from it. When CBD oil contains 0% THC, it is called THC-Free CBD oil.

The Highest Strength THC-Free CBD Oil

THC-Free CBD Oil has a larger variety in oil strength than Full-Spectrum. Often, CBD businesses will sell their Full-Spectrum CBD oils in 5% (500mg) and 15% (1500mg), of course, there are stronger options available. On the other hand, there will be more strengths of THC-Free CBD oil available. The most common strengths in 10ml bottles are 2.5% (250mg), 5% (500mg), 15% (1500mg) and 40% (4000mg). So, the most common high-strength THC-Free CBD oil is 40%; but just like the Full-Spectrum CBD oil, there are stronger options available.

What is THC-Free CBD Oil?

Basically, THC-Free CBD oil is just CBD oil without the THC compound. This is the best option for someone new to CBD or if your job requires you to take a drug test.

Does CBD Oil still work without THC?

Yes, CBD oil still works even without the THC compound. However, without it, you may not get the full advantages of the entourage effect. The entourage effect is the concept that cannabinoids are more effective together, rather than isolated.

There are two types of THC-free CBD oils, an isolate and broad-spectrum. An isolate CBD oil is just CBD, with no extra cannabinoids or terpenes from the plant. However, a broad-spectrum THC-Free CBD oil has no THC, but it does contain other cannabinoids and terpenes from the plant. This means that a broad-spectrum THC-Free CBD oil still benefits from the entourage effect even though it doesn’t contain THC.

So, we recommend that when you’re when looking for THC-Free CBD oil, the best option is to look for broad spectrum; as you will still receive benefits from the entourage effect, while not consuming any THC.
